Selling YOUR Horse through Killara Show Horses |
A PDF copy of the FULL SALE OF BEHALF OF OWNER AGREEMENT is available HERE |
The Process! - Firstly let me detail how it should work! |
Real Life example of the Process |
1. We specialize in Show Horses and Ponies that need work or conditioning to make them more saleable. Other quality horses are considered.
2. Contact us by email or telephone and tell us about the horse or pony. If it sounds likely that we could assist then we will ask you about the details of the horse, the anticipated selling price and what you have done trying to sell it so far. |
Miss A had been trying to sell her horse for some time at $1,750 without sucess, so we agreed this as our minimum selling price.
|
3. We have a 7 day evaluation basis, we inspect the horse and discuss with you what needs to be done, what problems exist and the ways to overcome them. During the trial we will school the horse and sort out any dietary or simple health problems and begin training and conditioning.
After 7 days we will discuss the position
with you in detail, agree a plan of action and agree a minimum selling price for the horse or pony. Normally, the only cost to you at this time is worming*, the supply of any hard feed and a grazing fee of $10 per week whilst the horse or pony is with us.
|
He was a kind, sound, TB of around
16hh but very thin, in poor condition.
We agreed to take him on, he was wormed, twice, and put on a diet of hard feed and good grazing. After a few days his condition had improved sufficiently to allow light work and this improved his condition very rapidly.
Miss A paid $42 for worming and $122 for hard food that lasted for three weeks.
|
4 We school and condition the animal to bring it into the best attainable condition for sale, once it begins to look more saleable we advertise it on our website and directly to any suitable buyers we know. We will also discuss further advertising at the owners expence.
5 We handle all the enquiries, questions and arrange demonstrations and test rides until the horse or pony is sold.
We collect the cash from the buyer, complete the paperwork and assist in arranging delivery. Our commission is deducted, 15% of the agreed sale price PLUS 30% of any excess we attain over your agreed sale price after commission, the balance is immediately transferred to you.
You will never receive less than the agreed sale price less 15% unless we have consulted with you first.
|
He was advertised and sold to the first people who saw him for a price of $2,950
Our commission worked out at just over $500, costs were $194 so the owner sold her horse and got over
$500 more than the price she had been asking before bringing him to us!
The horse is now healthy with new caring owners, Miss A has a new horse and everybody is very happy!

| 3 If an owner decides to remove the horse before it is sold, $90 per week schooling fee is payable, in addition to the worming*, grazing and hard food costs. |
